No update this week

Read 'No update this week'

Due to personal reasons, there will be no TNG update for this week. Unedited articles are starting to pile up though, so hopefully next week there'll be an abundance of updates....

Slighted Games

Read 'Slighted Games'

I cannot tell you how long I've waited to actually start up this feature. Unitdaisy and myself actually brainstormed it back when we conceptualized The New Gamer and every few months I'd ponder actually starting it up before moving along...

Space Channel 5

Read 'Space Channel 5'

Welcome to the first in our 'Slighted Games' series, where we examine, mull and reminisce about our favorite games that ended up either unfairly maligned, overshadowed or just flat-out ignored. The charismatic & exuberant rhythm game Space Channel 5 makes an excellent initial pick, as it appeared to have everything going for it before it faded from U.S. retailer shelves.

Updates and Adventures!

Read 'Updates and Adventures!'

First and foremost: NaViGaWriMo is delayed until January, which is a less-holiday ridden month. I will be spending December working on other misc. projects so perhaps I will post about them during the month instead. Come January, though, Genki Genki...

Trace Memory: Experiencing Remembrance

Read 'Trace Memory: Experiencing Remembrance'

Don't be fooled by the name, Trace Memory is an engaging and cohesive rumination on the nature of memory and remembrance.

See - the crowd is Namco and the Prince there is Keita Takahashi

NaViGaWriMo!

Read 'NaViGaWriMo!'

You may or may not be familiar with NaNoWriMo, or Nation Novel Writers Month, where authors (and well anyone) attempt to finish at 50,000 word novel in a month. Well, novel writing isn't really my thing, but I do dig game design and programming, so when I came across a self-proclaimed National Video Game Writer's Month it seemed too perfect to pass up.

Is the year over yet? And how do you deal with consoles & living areas?

Read 'Is the year over yet? And how do you deal with consoles & living areas?'

If so, I'd like to exit the ride now please, thank you. It's been a long week, but after a grueling and sadistic move UD & myself are finally set up, back online and we will never, ever move again....

Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth (XBOX)

Read 'Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth (XBOX)'

As if spelling Cthulhu wasn't onerous enough, the game sees fit to include a subtitle so long and overwrought that I feel uncomfortable even typing the whole thing out. Should that have been my first warning?

Trauma Center: We Don't Need Another Global Meltdown

Read 'Trauma Center: We Don't Need Another Global Meltdown'

Apparently in today's gaming world, it's not enough to be a murderer, a surgeon, or a disaster victim. You also have to uncover sinister political plots, evil corporations, and rescue the world at the same time. Why can't we just have a simple personal journey?

Doom (Film)

Read 'Doom (Film)'

What should one expect from a cinematic adaptation of Doom? The original video game's theme of a portal to hell opened on Mars was oft overlooked in favor for its white-knuckle first-person action and playability, and rightly so. In fact, one wonders why bringing Doom to the big screen was a desirable prospect to begin with?

Doom doom doom

Read 'Doom doom doom'

This week will have a bit of a special update, as we'll be attending an advance screening of the celluloid version of Doom. Whether you see such an opportunity as a pleasent surprise or a punishment, well in the end...
