This week's remix: Estradasphere - Super Mario Brothers 2 [SuperBuckJazz]
This week we go for a bit of the old 8-bit with a jazzed-up remix of the Super Mario Brothers 2 main theme by Estradasphere. And when I say 'jazzed-up' I mean with all of the sincerity and sexiness that implies. This mix is svelte, and packs a hell of a lot in for it's scant two and a half minutes. From the blaring trumpets to the excellent upright bass pizzacato, it's as swinging and original as SMB2 was. The only way you would not enjoy this mix is if you were dead - even if you were deaf the bass would get you tapping and snapping.
Simply put, Estradasphere's remix is by far one of the tightest remixes I've ever heard, from the improv'ed breaks to sheer technical prowess, it's a fresh take on an original tune and supplies plenty of new organic material to breathe life into this classic. You would have to be a fool to pass this one up.
While you're at it, you might want to check out Estradasphere's website where you can download many of their additional, non-video game oriented tracks as well as a studio cover of SMB1.
