Okami: Paintboards & Posters

While checking online prices for next week's release of Capcom's Okami, I saw that when you pre-order, you get a swell paintboard! Sure, its very presence causes more 'why isn't this on the DS again?' head-scratching, but the youthful wonder of painting with water should quell those questions for at least a few minutes.

Speaking of questions, Club Clover's latest mailbag features the following Okami/God Hand artwork, which I just can't resist posting:

That artwork really is brilliant.

The original game was rendered much, much more realistically. It was only once they realized that the PS2 couldn't handle what they wanted to do visually that the went for a different style, and the 'caligraphy' look is what they liked the best.

I wonder if the 'draw with a brush' gameplay stuff was a result of this second choice for style...
