8-bit Okami

8-bit Okami

Sure, Clover Studio's stylishly intriguing game Okami doesn't come out in the U.S. until September, but you can play it today! Well, an 8-bit simulacra of it.

Over at the Japanese Okami website, they've taken elements of the game and turned it into a pseudo 8-bit RPG, complete with a re-scored soundtrack! Unfortunately, interaction is pretty limited - you basically drag your mouse through a small swath of land, click on the characters and read their bits of dialogue. Unfortunately I can't actually read what they're saying, but at the end of each exchange you're handed links to an icon file of that characters, as well as one of 12 mp3s that feature chip-renditions of the Okami themes, 'dialogue' exchanges and more.

To see this (and really, no reason you shouldn't!), head on over to the Okami site, click the little Ama Terasu icon (see the wolf pictured above) and enjoy!
