You got Plasma in my Pong!

May 27, 2006 By Glenn Turner

Tomorrow is today. Last year, when I was reporting at Wired's NextFest, I commented on the curiosity that was psychic Pong entitled Brainball, which was none other than a version of the popular table tennis game requiring strenuous mental concentration to best your opponent.

Plasma Pong, found via the excellent TIGSource, recreates the same sort of psychic shield & ball experience. A system of 'plasma thrusts' and 'shockwaves' allow your humble paddle to help control the movements of Pong's illustrious ball, and damn, it looks good doing it. It's a great twist on the familiar game, and the dramatic soundtrack (composed by E.S. Posthumus) provides even more punch to an already-engrossing experience. As if that weren't enough, the sandbox mode is just as much fun (and hypnotic) to play around with too!

Unfortunately there's no online multiplayer available at the moment, but it's slated to be included in an upcoming version so keep your eyes peeled!

You can (and should!) download Plasma Pong at http://www.plasmapong.com/.

I've been sitting here playing around with the Sandbox part for awhile. This is damn near awesome. Great find

I love this, it is so wonderful to just mess around in sandbox. Pity there is no way to make it into a screensaver, not that I use them.
