Formed in 2003, The New Gamer was established to provide a different critical perspective on videogames. We scrutinize the whole game, what it has to say, how the separate elements effect the player, and what each game brings to the burgeoning field of interactive entertainment. Simply put, we like to write about games.

The Conta set was just sorta built on a whim... "man I bet I could totally do the Contra mountain face in level 1"
I spent a bit of time trying to make the flying weapon containers but they are so very small in LEGO scale (about 3 studs wide) that I couldn't get it to both be sized correctly and look anything LIKE the damn sprite. Alas. They aren't nearly as shitty to replicate as some of the baddies in SMB2 (omg hint?).
I did however want the bullets in the shot, but I didn't have the time the day of the 'photo shoot' to set it up properly. Next time perhaps.
